hey iboats. first post as a member and got a couple questions before i do a outboard motor swap tommorrow. had a 125 force on the trophy but is no longer with us. I came across a 95 merc 90hp that i wanted to throw on. now, the transom mounts are different than the force. will that be a problem bolting the motor to the transom? and do i need to be concerned with shaft size on this kinda swap..? And one last thing....if all is good and will work out...is it best to bolt motor straight to transom or should i put in a rubber protector....thanks guys appreciated it.

Re: bayliner trophy motor swap

Your biggest concern should be the shaft length. The mounting bolts that exist now should be completly filled in with this:http://www.marinetex.com/
It really doesn't matter that much concerning the rubber. I just look at it as one more thing that will need replacing down the road.
Again - your shaft length is the critical issue.
