I jsut bought a 1988 17' bayliner capri open bow, with an 85hp Force. The engine fires right up even with 2 yr old gas in it, i was happy as can be. But then came the bad news, NOTHING else elctrical works, no stern light no bow light no radio no horn or bilge pump. i checked all the fuses and they are all good. the lights i cna do with otu jsut b in before dark the bilge pump, horna dn radio are big issues. any ideas on what my problem could be? im thinking bad wires or coroded terminals from sitting. please help before i rewire the whole boat.

Have you replaced the fuses? Could look ok but be corroded or the terminal itself might be corroded. Every spring I have to check the fuses: put them out/in several times, same with the blade connectors just to make sure any corrosion from the winter is taken care of. ?Try putting a meter on the components and see your readings. i would do all of that before rewiring the whole boat.

Check your battery to make sure that you have the "other" power wires hooked up. I have the same boat as you. In addition to the heavy gauge cables going to the motor, you should have an additional pair for the rest of the electrical items. If I recall correctly, there is also a fuse on this set of wores.
Also, there is a switch on the left side of the dash that turns the power on and off for everything but the motor. Check to see if your power distribution panel is even getting power.

If you have any other question specific to this boat, I will help the best I can, I have had mine for six or seven years now.
