I replaced impeller. No go. Took input hose off of pump and blew back down hose. Input vents not blocked. Then clamped that input hose on shop vac and was able to lift water. I dont know what to try next.

I was checking engines prior to taking to marina slip. This engine wouldn't pump. I took inlet hose off of pump and found pieces of the impeller in inlet port. And no I did not check O ring. I assume that's in the outdrive. How do I get to it. I can probably figure it out, but all help is appreciated.

You will need to find all the bits from the old impeller, they can cause all kinds of problems by getting stuck in the bypass on the thermostat housing and in places like the exhaust risers, they have also been found stuck in the vanes of the circulating pump.

The "O" ring that is being referred to is the on that seals the front part of the raw water pump to the back and is located in a groove on the part of the pump that remains on the crank. People have not seen the old "O" ring and added a new one i.e. doubling up, this can stop the pump pulling water.

It took me an entire summer to find that one.:) Of course I can laugh at it now, but I know how frustrating it can be. Take it one step at a time and you will find the problem(s).

I removed the o ring cover & spring from shaft. Most of the o ring was gone. I couldn't determine gauge. It looked like it was approximately 1 1/8 diameter and approx 3/16 guage. Where can I find a replacement. The one in impeller kit looks too large. dypcdiver and wwbugman69 I really appreciate your assistance.
