BBC , green wire to alt ???

While putting things back together I noticed a green wire going to the alt. not hooked to anything. ? Didn't see anything to hook it to. There are 3 wires to the alt. Red, Black, and this Green wire. Where does it go ???

Sure does...But Ill make a guess and say its for duel battery hook up

There are no green wires on Mercruiser alternators.

EDIT:
Looked at your profile and see you have an OLD BBC, the green wire is for the temp sender.

If you put your full engine information in your posts, it would make replies a lot faster and more accurate.

Thanks for the replies, not easy with no info.
I know better than leave out the pertient info to my boat. Dah??
I'll check for some id. on the alt.
