I've removed and replaced a few - like MrBill said, you can use a rubber mallet. I generally use a piece of 2X4 and whatever hammer's handy. To remove - tap from side to side wiggling it off with the taps. To replace, get it lined up straight and hammer in w/ wood and hammer. Make sure you get it on tight. I've also lost a couple on the road!
