bearing carrier kicking my butt

i am working on a yamaha lower unit, trying to reseal it and the bearing carrier is not coming out.
I started out by bending the little tab in that prevents the bearing carrier nut from moving. THen the retainer nut needed to be drilled and split to get it off which was no problem.
After that i tried to pull out the bearing carrier with a two jaw puller. After a while of doing that with no luck i started to do it with hear, still no luck. I tried for a while longer and i guess after so many times i lost track of where i was putting the puller and put it in the mid section where the carrier is week and broke that part of the carrier. So now the only way i can get a grab on it is with a chain wrapped around it instead of the jaws but it still won't budge, anyone have any ideas other than shooting the drive?

Lots of heat on the gearcase. It is stuck on the front normally.

oh ok thanks, i thought it was stuck in the back by the prop.

I am still having a problem with this, i tried heating and soaking in gibbs oil, and heating and soaking over and over again. Still i can't get the thing to come out. does it have to be in any certain gear? does the pinion gear need to come out? anyone know any other tricks?

PB blaster and more heat
it will come just got to give it time
some guys even pressurize the gearcase also to help force it out

I never heard of PB blaster till i started looking into this problem, this is the second time someone mentioned it. I'll have to go get some.
I actually thought of the pressure in the gear case but didn't think the seals would hold up to the pressure it would take to get this thing out, i'll give it a shot anyway though.

got it, i sprayed it in there and heated up the gearcase. I'm not going to try to remove it yet. I'll be back in the morning to heat up the gearcase again and spray some more in there. I'll probably try to remove it again the day after that, i'll heat it up at various times of the day tomorrow.

spray it more and tilt it up so it goes down there
no need to heat it up until u want to remove

There is another penetrating oil that may work if the pb blast doesn't work. It is called KROIL, or maybe aero-kroil. I'm not sure where you get it from, maybe Napa would have it, I usually get it from friends that work in the oilfeild or chemical plants.

I finally got it. I changed the heat that i was using and it came right out. I was using an oxy cetaline torch which gives a lot of heat but not much coverage so i changed to the shrink wrap gun which has a big flame and it came out almost instantly.
