spent another weekend working on outdrive, always special tools. here is my next project, had outdrive off, changed universals and seal on carrier assembly due to gear oil in bellows. reinstalled outdrive and drained oil noticed water in oil. filled drive with air about 15 to 20 psi and noticed hissing from prop area. my question is can i change the seals on the prop shaft without removing the carrier and are there any other seal to replace on the prop shaft. if i do need to remove the carrier will i have to remove the outdrive? will i have to reshim anything if i don't remove anything other than the carrrier. thanks in advance guys you all have been lots of help with my boat this season.

To change the seals properly you need to pull the carrier, it can be done with the unit installed, change the o-ring on the carrier while it's apart

What kind of drive are you talking about?<br />OMC, Mercruiser, Volvo, single prop, dual prop, year of drive?
