Beating the heat

I have to store my Hypalon boat outside and temps can exceed 100 degrees. I'm trying to find ways to keep the boat as cool as possible as the mercury rises in the summer.

I've treated the boat with 303 and I have a rigid cover made from 1" foam insulation panels (as well as a fabric cover). With the covers on and the boat semi-inflated, temps inside the boat today were in the mid/high 80s.

What do you consider too hot for a Hypalon boat and what other strategies are there for keeping the boat cool?

Cheers,

Jon

Re: Beating the heat

Even low grade Hypalon materials do not begin to degrade until temperatures exceed about 150F. So, as long as you're not storing your boat in direct sunlight, where contact temps can be as high as 180F in Arizona, you're fine. 100F will have no adverse effect on it whatsoever.

Keep it in the shade and you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks! It's good to know the heat isn't affecting the boat as long as it's out of the direct sun.
