I have an 81 115 evinrude and I installed the new 3" Beede tach. It has a dial on the back that gives you the option of 4cyl,6cyl,8cyl,and 12palt. I know my motor is a 4cyl, but when the motor is running the tach readings are to high. The tach goes to 6000 rpm and it will go past that and I know Im not running it that high. Also there are three wires that run from the shifter box one grey, one black, and one purple. Am I suppossed to have all three wires hooked up to the tach?Anyone give me an explanation would be great! Thanks Mike
