Spring is here, out of the blue I get an email from some gent who got my number from a previous service job I did. I made it VERY clear from the start, I can fix your motor but you will have to pay for parts up front- owner agreed. I still have my Thundercraft with the Merc TOP and I still tinker on my own stuff- I thought I was done working on outboards. It's a 75 or 76 Evinrude 6. I was told it's been serviced and was put away three years ago- typical stuff, coils are shot, impeller is there but in terrible shape- I don't think this motor has been touched for a decade- it does have 80PSI so it's looking up! I'll price out the parts Monday I guess and see if it's worth getting it back into shape- what's a coil worth these days? lol.

Yep ive had that thought before too, good tip on paying parts up front
Ignition coils are about $25 on them.
On that model i think there is just a coil under the flywheel with two leads to plugs so i suppose it just dumps a spark down both wires so one spark is done at compression the other spent on exhaust.

No, no ---those all had 2 coils !!!----On a 2 stroke it fires 2 times per revolution of the crank , both on a powerstroke......Bosun,you have this confused with newer 4 stroke motor ignitions.

Yup, it's got a pair, pair of everything- coils, points , condensors- all looks new less the coils- typical.
