Beep-beep-beep while waking...

Everytime I cross a good sized wake my '88 Mercury 135 gives me the beep-beep-beep of the oil warning system. I replaced the cap on the engine mounted oil reservoir and blew out the oil lines with an air compressor. The engine reservoir stays fairly full and the motor smokes plenty on startup. Beeping stops as soon as you hit flat water or light chop. I get maybe 4 or 5 beeps and it stops. Any thoughts?

What's farily full? If it's not right up to the top it will do what you describe. Run the motor and crack the cap until the oil over flows. Tighten the cap back up and see if that solves your problem.

I dont know if this will help you but I found a tan wire touching a grounded screw on a 28 foot suntracker pontoon boat recently. wire was in console of boat. the insulation on connecter terminal was worn. it stopped beepin after a tape job

I think Dingbat has it nailed. Mine did the same thing and that is what the problem was. Some folks dont know that the oil resivior under the cowling needs bleed of ALL the air.

Sounds like a plan...next time out I'll crack the cap and let it fill until it overflows. Previous owner had disconnected the warning horn...probably for this very reason.
