hi all, I have a 1997 Mariner Offshore 115hp. I removed it in excellent working condition, 3 months ago, while I rebuilt the boat. I refitted it this week, and am having issues with the beeper in the forward control box. I have trim n tilt working fine, and the motor turns over, but I have the intermittent beep, every second or 2, non stop once the ignition is turned on. I diagnosed it as being the low oil sender unit, as when I disconnect the 2 blue wires under the oil reservoir, the beeper stops, however it is 3/4 full of oil. But, I'm wondering, instead of the chance that the oil reservoir sender has failed, have I got some wires wrong around the control box with the gauges. If the gauges had a wire mixed up when refitting, can this also cause the oil reservoir fault to beep, or can it only beep because of reservoir failure ?? Up near my gauges, I have a Brown wire, that appears to be doing nothing, and not connected, Im pretty sure,it was this way when I purchased the motor, as I wrote down the wire combos at the time of removing, so I could refit easily, and not have a problem, obviously, it didn't work, or the sender in the reservoir, has genuinely failed from sitting idle for a few months. What do you think ?
