Hi All, I just repowered my boat w/ a 1988 Yami 150. One thing that I have noticed is when I turn the key on I don't get the "beep beep beep" noise. My alarm is good. I have a friend w/ 2 1988 yami 150's and his chirps when he turns the key on. Does anyone have an idea on what I should check? Thanks.

Re: Beeps or chirps

I am a member of several very helpful sites and forums. Boat motors are new to me. By far this is the worst forum I came to. Rarely are questions answered. 31 people have read this post since I put it up a few days ago and not one thought. You all know any other sites that actually answer questions other than by newbees? This site sucks!!!!!!

Seems like I remember something about twins doing that but not the single set up, but finding a Yamaha service manual for a 23 year old motor may or may not be an easy task, to see if it will give some info.
May need to ask your local Yamaha dealer about that as they are the ones that do the rigging up of the boats

The folks that read your thread either just don't know, not sure or don't understand the question/problem. Your post isn't even 24 hours old yet, give it some time and hopefully someone familiar with your issue will answer. Regarding boats and motors there's no better site than this, so probably better not to be impatient if you really want some help! Good Luck!::)

Re: Beeps or chirps

I don't know the answer to your post, but I have a 1986 115 on a pontoon boat and it does not beep when I start the motor. That being said who ever switched the motor out cut the harness and used some non factory wires to hook everything back up so I am not 100% sure it is wired up exactly right. I have fixed and resoldered the harness on the boat side, but the motor side has most of the nonfactory wiring and is stays in the water. The alarm on mine will go off when the oil level gets too low so I know that the buzzer works. I would like it to give a beep when I turn the key on, but I don't know if it ever did.

If you had a Tohatsu, that question would have been answered even before you post it...

Wow, Thank you all for replying. I have made other posts and read other peoples posts that were never replied to. One guy made a post here and he replied to him self 5 times lol. I do have the after market shop manuel. There is no mention of the chirps. Like I said my friend has almost the same motor except his is a 200. His does chirp. Maby a wire somewhere or bad sensor(s). Thank You all for replying and please continue. I havent figured it out yet :)
