Beer Can Junkies?

I admit it! I confess. My wife and I are incurable aluminum can scavengers. We've tried to kick the habit but just can't.

At the lake, when we stop at a rest stop on a trip, or when we go for our morning bike rides, whenever we see a stray beer or soda can, out comes the plastic bag and in goes the can.

When we get several big yard waste size plastic bags full, off to the recycle center we go.

"taint much money, but hey, it's virtually free. Pretty labor intensive though. Takes a lot of effort to bend over and pick up a beer can.

Just wondered if anyone else shared our strange perversion.

My uncle Harold did. When I was a pup I would sometimes play golf with him, my grandfather (Patcho), and my dad. He would wait until one of us was teed up and in mid-swing to crunch a can.

I'm starting to think that way..

We removed a commercial dishwasher from my work. I loaded in the back of the truck because the guy helping me said to scrap it out.. Said I would probably get a case a beer out of it.. Sat in my driveway for a week and a half.

Finally I took after it.. Stripped all crap metal and plastic.. Took me about an hour.
loaded up the stainless steel in the tub and took it to the recycling center... To my surprise I had 73 pounds of Stainless Steel.

Walked out of there with 44 bucks.

Got $11.70 for the cans I took in last Saturday. Every little bit helps!
