I am new to the boating world and looking for advice. I'm looking into buying a fish finder, but know very little. I just need something basic. Anyone have any suggestions.

Get a portable one, Humminbird makes a nice one. That way if you don't like it or want a nicer one w/ GPS or color screen it's easy to remove from the boat and sell it.
