Hello again, iBoaters. I've not been on here for a handful of years after I completed the rebuild of my Stratos 1850 center console (link below) which was a learning experience to say the least. One that I could not have done without the aid of the forum.

When I finished epoxying the cap back to the deck way back, I was left with exposed fiberglass. I didn't want it exposed, so I picked up some Behr Deckover paint in a light blue and painted the deck and a couple of other spots on the cap. I used the textured finish. Well, after 6 years of moderate use, it still looks good. There are some light stains here and there, but it grips well and has done what I had hoped that it would do. Surface preparation, as in everything, is the key I think.

What got me thinking about this is that the gelcoat on the cap is still rough looking and cracked in spots. Behr makes 2 kinds of Deckover. Textured and non slip smooth. I am getting ready to get as light of a color as I can and repaint the floor and flat surfaces with the textured variety and the entire cap with the smooth. The finish won't shine but it will certainly look much nicer than it does now.

Just wanted to pass along that I have had good luck with it to date.

Ayuh,..... Interestin' stuff, available locally too,.......

Is it a hard plastic like finish,..??
Or rubbery like dig yer fingernail into kinda stuff,..??

Seems to be along the lines of paint-on pickup bedliner stuff, only in colors seen on a patio deck,....
