Bell hsg. lube monitor hose size?

I've had my bell hsg. off many times, and I think the worst part is disconnecting the lube monitor's reusable clamp on the bell hsg. hose barb. I know it's tight in there, but if Merc. would have given me an extra inch, removal would much easier.

My bud tore his in two, so we went to Advance Auto to get a close fuel hose. I'd like to get the real rigid black plastic hose at the right size, and trial fit the length so I can get my hands in there, but still not clog the finished assembly. Also, the clamp the Merc. parts manual shows is not the same reusable clamp.

So, any advice on the hose, and where to find a small reusable clamp that size?

...ps: I've also thought about splitting the hose, and splicing in a repair barb, if I can find one. This way I could get that hose loose from where I can get at it. But I want the right size hose in case this bombs, and I have to go back to spec.

i believe it is a 1/4" hose but you need to get one that will not break down with oil. the fuel hoses are too thck and you'll never get it onto the gimbal side. as for the clamp, just use a good tie wrap. one with the metal tong, not all plastic. pull it tight with pliers and cut excess. you do not wsant that hose leaking. if water gets into it, youll ruin the drive.
