Hi,
How hard is it to do a Bellows job on a Volvo Penta Inboard/Outboard 270, It does not need the Exhaust bellows or the intake - just to take off the Universal Joint Bellows and put the new one on? It has wear tread on it as it is a 1983 Bayliner. And is leaking.

They were quoting us at a dealership 300. to do the job but the hose is only 35.00 - so if this is something that is fairly easy I can do myself - would rather do it myself.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Perry

Re: Bellows Job

Perry,
A Volvo bellow is $58 including clamps. If your boot has a hole in it there are more problems involved. Water will be in the U-joints and water in the bell housing. I suggest you take it to a dealer who knows how to repair all the above. The problems you have could cost much more than you were quoted. The engine and upper gearhead will have to be pulled. This is not a do it yourself job. Best of Luck
