bellows mystery part

hey guys. im doing the exhaust bellows on my 1986 larson bowrider (3.0 liter 140 hp alpha 1 outdrive) and found this piece as i was reassembling. any of you guys know what this is? i cant find it in my service manual. thanks guys!

It's part of the shutter.

thanks. but i dont think thats it. this has 4 holes in it, and a 5th hole in the center where it appears to be attached to something.

ill check it in the morning to be sure the shutters are both in place so i can rule it out. thanks again.

GA is correct, it is the exhaust shutter, or to be more precise half of an exhaust shutter. It was coated with rubber once upon a time.

No- You won't be ruling it out. You will be buying a new exhaust shutter. I said it was an example.

Trust us.... That is most definitely half of the exhaust shutter assembly.... Seen way too many to not know what it is...

I didn't take it that way, Luke. Just fix her up, hit the water and have fun. :D

Long distance troubleshooting and just communicating through a forum doesn't always go smoothly. No Problem!

thanks GA. God knows im trying! im an industrial mechanic by trade and this is my first whack at working on a
i/o. Its a little different than what im accustom to!!!
