My Alpha 3.0 is 12 years old, and although the bellows all look fine I'm being told they should be replaced. How big of a job is this and how much should I expect to pay to have this work done?

If they truly are 12 years old, replace them. It's not that bad of a job as long as you have some mechanical skills and a manual.

Re: Bellows Replacement

I do have a manual and I have taken the lower unit off before. The manual does speak of some special tools and glues you need for this job which leads me to believe that maybe a professional should do it, which is why I'm trying to determine how big of a job this is. I can call a dealer and get a price but I suspect it will be steep.

Whenever I do a bellows job, it includes gimbal bearing, u-joints and new shift cable and averages bout a grand, give or take.
