I have two problems. The first is a rip on the drive arm Bellow. in a attempt to save some money i removed the drive to replace said bellows and have found a significant amount of rust on the drive arm. Can this be cleaned upor is it a lost cause. Also knowing that the Gimbel Bering was making a lot of noise at the end of last year this all started to make sense. I removed the Gimbel and found it to be destroyed with rust and corrosion. so now i am wondering if the Bering that connects the drive arm to the drive is also compromised. is there a kit that includes all parts to rebuild/replace the drive arm that includes the drive arm, drive barrings, o-rings, Shem's, etc. I have the bellows and the Gimbel Bering. also any pics anybody has would be helpful. thanks

i have a volvo 4.3glg with a sx-a drive..

Re: bellows

Assuming when you say "Drive arm" you are referring to the ujoint assembly and shaft, if it's rusty, you need new ujoints for sure, and a new gimbal bearing, along with the bellows.
You will probably find you have water in your outdrive oil also, since the seal on the ujoint shaft yoke is not designed to keep water out, only oil in. If that yoke is rusty, it will eat up the seal and may require the yoke be replaced too. Behind that seal is a double bearing box that contains two bearings, if taken apart, it will have the bearing preload reset with a new sleeve. If those bearings are rusty, they will need replaced too.
Here is a link to the OEM service manual for that drive.http://www.4shared.com/document/fcLLskdJ/7746477_SX-A_DPS-A.html?dirPwdVerified=818cbd4e I think you are going to need it.

There are no "kits" for that drive, you will have to purchase each item separately.

Re: bellows

I know this is kind of off topic but it might help wags as well as me, Is it ok to use any kind of adhesive on the u joint bellows? the reason i ask is be cause I'm in the process of putting my bellows in and the only thing open right now is autozone.

Ayuh,... Sanding disc glue is about the closest thing I've found...
