Hey, I have come to realize what the issue is with my below the floor fuel tank vent.

It is a 17 gallon, AFP plastic tank, model number 10503. Production date 1988

The vent line is free of any cloggs except for fuel. As soon as I unplugged the vent line from the tank gas poured out of the vent fitting.

The issue is that over the years it appears that the tank has bowed out in the center abit causing the vent fitting area to be at a lower point and gas is being pushed up it.

Is it possible to tap a new vent fitting in the plastic tank?perhpas beside the fill tube? and then I can get one of those vent fill caps???

I am not opposed to simply buying a new tank, but I think finding on the right dimesnions is a problem.

It is 40"by 23".

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I think rather than trying to drill a new hole in the tank
I would put something under the hose to hold it up?

OH, I see what your saying... that way the excess gas that gets in the vent line will drain back into the tank... and then as the level of fuel lowers, the vent should operate properly...
