1988 181 cid i blew my belt (yes it was getting old and i should have done it before) all that this belt runs is the circulation pump and the altanator then to the crankpulley i can not find any numbers on the shrapnal. any ideas on what size belt i need/should be on it? the one that was on there was streached out and on the end of adjustments.

the other question is when putting the new one on, do i need to use a hoist to support the motor? i did notice teh piece that comes out on the manifold side of the motor so the belt can be replaced but by pulling that out there is only 2 bolts to hold the front of the motor up. is that enough?

Howdy,

You should be able to buy that belt right here on iboats!!!

There's other places to get it too..... (NAPA comes to mind)

Also, if you have never removed the drive to inspect the gimble bearing, bellows, U-joints etc....you SHOULD.

Then check the alignment too since you're messing with the engine mounts....
