bench start 89 Evinrude Tracker

I'm attempting to start an evinrude 70 hp on the bench, and I was wondering if anyone knew what color the ignition wire is, and if I have to connect anything else. Can I just put 12V to the ignition wire and jump the solenoid to crank.<br /><br />Thanks in advance,<br />k

First off, what do you mean by "bench"?<br /><br />That is a lot of engine to crank over, not to mention start, unless it is SECURELY bolted down.

Sorry, I was using the term loosly. It is a full engine, powerhead and LU as if you were going to put it on a boat, but hooked to a rack built in my shop. I don't have the controls, and am looking to start it to see if it runs properly.<br /><br />k
