Bench Test Trim Pump

Can anyone tell me how to bench test the power trim pump. I have two I'm trying to test, each has been removed from the boats. they are still connected to solenoids and such. I have tried going from a strong 12V battery straight from the Neg side to the black ground wire, and Pos+ side straight to the blue or green wire. Nothing happens. Am I doing this correctly? They are not connected to the plug connecting them to the switches on the remote.

Try the ground, right to the motor housin',....

Motor is getting rebuild, on my engine stand. You were thinking needs better ground?

You have power to the solenoids but you need to activate the solenoid to run the motor.
Try shorting the positive soleiod terminal to the small threaded post next to it. Should run
