I need to replace my anchor light. It is a removable Perko that has a bend in it about 35 degrees or so.Anyone know a good way to get a bend in the new one without putting a crimp in it????Charlie

Buy It That Way........... :D

Seriously,
That's Very Light Tubing... You Could try the Sand Filled Tube method.... Bending it on a Wide Radius will Help......

I've got to build a couple of replacement handrails for my brother-in-law's pool ladder...... I'm using Aluminum Conduit(Made to be Bent).... I'm going to try bending it around a Well Inflated Tire, as the radius of the out-side of the tire is pretty close to the radius I need to Match......

I have not seen anything even close to what I need already bent.I had some old timer tell me to freeze the piece before bending it but it wont fit in my freezer.I was going to try shooting it with some r-44 before I try bending. You may want to try the same.Charlie

Here's one but it's only a 15# bend. Don't know if that's enough for your application.

web page

You could try putting a larger piece of copper over it to protect the finish and heat the copper up with a propane torch and bend it a little at a time. I think that freezing it will work. I would think it would make it more brittle and prone to break. It would be nice if you could practice on a piece of tubing about the same thickness of the light pole..

The major has it. Take it over to the local electrical shop and see if they will bend it for you. They have the knowhow on how to bend it in the right spot.

Hello, Good point. Any electrican or plumber should have the right tools to bend it. If you can't find someone to bend it, take it to a metal shop. Not only will they have the right dies to bend the piece, they will know exactly how to bend it without buggering it up. Might be cheaper to have it done right the first time insted of learning by expense! (when you mess up) ... (been there done that!) :D Good luck!

Assumed it would only be a few inches of bend needed at the base. A large piece of copper would slide off that much. Just grasping at straws.. :D

Thanks guys,I think I may leave this to the pros to bend so I dont ruin it.I think when the previous owner of my boat changed the canvas/windshield setup to a raised style he probably had to alter the light.Charlie

Fill it with sand and bend it. Then pour the sand out.

Thom
