I hear that if you bend the reed stops slightly so the reeds open futher, can give a little more power out of an engine. Is that so?

Perhaps. Could also lead to a broken reed and a blown up powerhead.

It would be a better idea to replace the reeds with reeds that are designed to open further and/or require less pressure differential to open them. I think Boyesen reeds do that, Erik.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB
