I have a 92 Evinrude 40 that the bendix will not disengage. I have tried oiling the shaft and rotating the bendix but, it will not budge. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Bendix Engaged

is there wear on the bendix, if so you might have to pry it with a screwdriver to get it down. Does the engine have a hard time starting?

i didnt mean to pry it down, i meant that you have to try to turn it while putting downward pressure on it.

The bendix appears to be fine(externally) and the engine is a good starter.

Re: Bendix Engaged

are the teeth on the bendix lining up with the voids on the flywheel or are they slightly offset?
