Hi - First time poster...

I have a 1972 Johnson Stinger 65 HP. The bendix engages into the flywheel and spins, however, it does not move the flywheel. You can manually move thge flywheel so I know it is not stuck. The bendix just spins when it is engaged. Please help. Thanking you in advance.

That bendix gear has a clutch within it which has apparently failed. Replace the bendix gear.

Ain't it the truth! The Bosch parts are much, much cheaper. $127 for a Bendix drive on the Prestolite? Feh! I don't know what percentage of those engines had which starter. I'll cross my fingers.

Wow! I just noticed that I'm no longer a mere cadet! A Seaman Apprentice, eh? Does my pay go up?
