Bennet Tabs go clunk

Anyone familiar with Bennet tabs and how they work? I have the hydraulic type. I thought my switch was bad, so to test it I bypassed it and all I get is a clunk sound coming from the pump. The pump gets hot to the touch after several attempts to pump. I can move the tabs up and down by hand with minimal force so I don't think they are froze. I am thinking the pump is shot. However thats around $300 for mine. I might have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. I just don't want to waste my money if its something else. I don't know what else it could be it's a relatively simple set up pump in/pump out.
Any ideas?
Thanks

How are you jumping out the switch? You need power to the motor and to one of the direction control values.

Running the motor against a closed control value will cause the heating problem which you speak.

Re: Bennet Tabs go clunk

I followed the instructions on the Bennet website for troubleshooting. I picked the wire for either side port or starboard and then the pump in or out wire and touched them to the power port of the switch. I got the same reaction by using the switch I just bypassed it to be sure. So it probably is the pump. I just don't want to replace the pump then find out it is the actuators. I can't believe both would be bad but, you you never know.

I would contact Bennett, their customer service is the best and might send you a new one for free. I had a defective part and they switched it out at no charge.

I did another test to rule out actuators. I disconnected hydraulic lines and turned the pump on and watched for shooting hydraulic fluid, nothing happened. So I bought a new pump, installed it and yahooo tabs are working! For a extra $30 I got the extended warranty which covers the pump for three years. If it goes bad I just bring it in and swap it for a new one. I will be back in the water ASAP there are fish calling me:)
