I have an alpha 1 outdrive. It has an aluminum 3 blade prop. (stock factory) with one blade that has a slight dent on the outer edge. How will it the outdrive and the performance. :D cablenut@earthlink.net

Re: Bent Prop.

Define the size of the dent (as big as a dime etc). Is the blade itself bent? are you experiancing driveline vibration? Some of the small nicks can be smoothed out using a file. If you are in any doubt I would remove the prop and have it reconditioned. That will be about a $50-$75 investment in security. A rebuilt outdrive is about $1400 so the lower cost is worth it. Many of us also carry a spare (used or cheap prop) for emergencies. If you want to "improve" your performace slightly then buy a stainless steel prop and keep the old one as a spare.

Bob

Re: Bent Prop.

If its jus a little dent buck one side with a 2 lb hammer and peen the other side (bump) with a little 6-8 oz hammer...use tin smith ratta-tat-tat method......works on aluminum, stainless and bronze..... :D
