Bent transom clamp screw

I bought a 1999 25hp Johnson a few months ago with the intention of servicing and generally checking it over ready for next season.
I have just mounted it on my temporary work Transom and discovered that one of the clamp screws is bent,This is restricting the amount of travel the screw will go in and out.
It will screw all the way out but it would mean removing the clamp screw face plate/disk on the end.
It wont screw in the other direction without damaging the thread in the clamp.
Is it possible to fit a new screw and then attach the new disk/faceplate?
My only alternative to that would be to replace the whole clamp and screw, which is a longer and more expensive way of doing it.
Anybody had the same problem?

Sorry FS,do you mean replace the clamp,or replace the screw?
Is there a method of replacing the disk on the new screw?

Cut the screw with a hacksaw where needed and install a new screw.----Transfer the plate and screw to the new / used one.

replace the screw

use google to find the method of retaining the washer that you feel comfortable with. I personally use the welder and tack weld a small washer to end of clamp screw

The '99 is bolted on under the cup. Undo the bolt, replace the thumbscrew, reinstall the cup. A drop of locktite will keep the bolt from backing out.

Many thanks guys,
I'll have a better look at the way the swivel plate is attached, with it being on the work transom it's a bit hard to see.Hopefully it will be a screw fix,if not I've got a DC stick welder that will do the deed.
I'm quite relieved it can be replaced,or it would have been a lot longer and more expensive job.
