The lower unit's vertical fin of my Evinrude 140 is bented slightly ( approx. 1 cm. displacement from midline when measured at the lowest end ). Will this effect the performance or handling of the boat ?

Thanks

Might cause a slight pull, in the steering, to one side or another. I wouldn't worry about it. DON'T try to straighten it, you'll break it off.

I would agree with djohns19 response ONLY if you do not notice anything wrong with the steering. My 235's lower "skag" was also bent approx. the same amount you indicated, but it caused it to be MUCH harder to steer left, than right, when underway. I was able to straighten it without breaking it, but would not recommend you trying it on your own, unless you know more than a little about metallurgy. Other wise, take it to a reputable shop, or a good machinist/welder, and have it done. Any shop which has the ability to re-build or re-pitch a prop, should have the tools & knowledge to do this.

Thanks Guy. I had a test run today and could not point out any diffenrence in steering left or right at high speed. The boat also went straight when I left my hand off the wheel for a short moment. I will leave it this way. :)
