I am looking to replace my ’82 Ouachita 14ft jon boat. In the last two weeks, I have patched 3 holes that were leaking. It hasn’t leaked in the 2 years I have owned it. Now I find that the hull was a crack in the bottom that needs to be welded and I found a rivet to be leaking. So I think I may sell this boat to a machinest who can fix and I will buy another. I’ve got a 15hp 2 stroke that will do 25mph or more so I want a well built boat. I also want it light so I want the best riveted 14footer with a 36inch bottom. It seems all of the boats sold today are about the same. I really liked the Oachita because it had three cross sections instead of two as all today have. This way the front seat is more up front and I can use the middle section to hold my fish finder. If I can’t find one I like, I guess I will just keep repairing my ’82 model.

Re: best 14ft riveted jon boat?

Too much wasted space in the Crestliners. Maybe I’ll just keep patching up my old boat. I do like the G3 all welded 1448. I think it weighs 280lbs. Lots of space. But how fast will it go? Will it be the same as my boat, about 150lb, with an extra 130lb weight. Or will the wider semi-V hull be more or less efficient?
