I am restoring a 1980 Galaxy. Engine's all done, now I'm working on the hull. There aren't any bad digs in the fiiberglass but the paint is in need of repair. Can anyone give me a suggestion on the best paint to use. It is very confusing trying to decide between polyurethane and silicone based paints. Any advice would be appreciated. Local marinas are iffy on advice. One says silicone and the other says urethane.

Go to Interlux's website. If the hull has already been painted you need to address compatability issues with different types of paint.I'm not sure its a valid URL , only guessing : www.interlux.com

All their paints are listed for above the waterline, what the heck do you do for below the water line?

Interlux has below the water line paint.
Ultra Kote, Micron Extra, Bottomkote, Micron CSC, Micron 66.

If your boat will be trailered daily, top side paint is just fine.

If your boat will be moored you should have a bottom paint.
Fresh or salt water, makes a difference too.
