I am on a budget so soda blasting isnt an option. So can someone reccomend a really good chemical stripper for taking of multiple layers of old and unknown bottom paint. It is thick and ugly and I am sure causing me to burn extra fuel.

it wont affect fuel that much unless there is marine life growing on it.

however I havent found a great chemical stripper, but 80 grit in the DA does a quick job. Wear proper PPE

I am with Scott. Stripper is real messy as it drips onto you, and I never found one that would efficiently soften multiple coats of A-F paint. It does dissolve the gelcoat, however.

A grinder with 36 grit paper works well, but it will grind the gelcoat real easy. Be prepared to apply an epoxy barrier coat after you remove the A-F paint.
