We use a high speed connection at home, but at work and on the road I've been using AOL for dial up. I can't afford AOL anymore. I'm thinking about Net Zero, any other suggestions about good providers? Who do you use? Do you like them?
Anything will be a step up from what you're using now with the exception of possibly Earthlink, who imho is the worst ISP in the world in my experience with them for several people in several locations.<br /><br />Netzero isn't too bad and speeds aren't too bad either for dial-up. However, usually from what I've seen, your local telco will give you the best dial up speeds. Who is your phone provider and do they offer dial-up?
Hi Hayhauler, I use JUNO for dial up, they offer unlimited e-mail service with 10 hours of web access a month for FREE, or unlimited web access for $10 a month, to avoid extra charges check out the JUNO access numbers to see if you get local numbers where you travel, BTW, seems to me that recently they offered an unlimited access deal for $7, good luck. BTW, what's the price for a ton of hay today?

I've been using Access4Less.net , at $5.95/month, and have been very happy with them.<br /><br />All the good stuff...<br />- 2 e-mail accounts<br />- no software<br />- unlimited access<br />- no ads<br />- no spam<br />- automatic payment<br /><br />For $3 more, you get that higher-speed stuff.
I use a local isp at home, and use walmart.com on the road. its a sub seller of compuserve and is available all over with local numbers and has a 800 service available, my kids use it at college, also. 9.95, allows 5 emails/logons and althought it defalts to netscape, you can minimize it and use w/exp with it.
Juno/netzero has a 4.95 version with no ads I think. I always got 50,667 (50k) or better speed. Time is probably limited, but the 9.95 unlimited version isn't bad either. I have serious doubts about the fake high speed $14.95 account, though.
I use PeoplePC, its cheap and gets it done. My area sucks for speed, I can take my laptop to someone elses house and connect at twice the speed of my house. I am just waiting for DSL to become available in my area.
Hi hayhauler, thanks for the current hay price, as I remember my dad bought it in Canada for about 8 to 10 a ton in the 50's, but then everything was a bit cheaper. Seems to me your main problem will be getting an ISP that allows access from so many different locations with minimal connection problems. Good luck.
SlowlySinking, that's interesting. A lot depends on how it is "packaged." Two round rolls would be a little over a ton and would sell for $40.00. Forty square bales is about a ton and is between $80.00 and $100.00. More labor in the square bales. Even still hay probably hasn't gone up as much as milk, bread and gas since the '50s.<br /><br />I'm looking at Net-Zero. It's a shame about AOL, I really like them, and I'm willing to pay a little premium for what I like. But their premium has gotten out of site.
I don't use dial-up anymore since I moved into an area where only Sprint can provide a land line (talk about a bunch of thieves!). But when I had a SW Bell land line, I used wt.net. Service was outstanding and the price was right. They have dial-up numbers and service all over the country, too.<br /><br /><br />-dd-
I guess I was wrong about what BellSouth had available. I went with their dialup service, and with the phone service I already have it was just 4.95 a month, added to my phone bill, for unlimited connection.<br /><br />Dogsdad, I haven't gotten along well with Sprint in the past, I'm glad they aren't my only option.<br /><br />Thanks everybody.
I have had AOL, which is too high for a dialup, MSN is full of adware,Net Zero and Juno are the same company and you have to put up with all the popups, so now I use Walmart Connect at home. <br /><br />So far I have been happy with it for 2 years now, and it is only $9.95 a month. Figured I would spend less money on home use since I am on a T1 here at work, and I spend most of my time at work anyway.
