best gasket seal?

Hello,

I am about to put my powerhead back on my 25 hp mercury. What is the proper way to seal the gasket between in and the stump? I have the actual gasket but was wondering if i needed to apply and gasket seal along with it for a good bond with no leaks. What is the prefered brand and style sealant for this?

If it's the head gasket no need to add anything, seals with torque and heat, if it's other gasket with no varnish like coat on both sides as head gasket, could use mega grey silicone or any other good brand silicone.
