Thoughts/ideas? Anyone ever had the valve seats redone to run unleaded fuel? What was the cost? Any help appreciated.

Yeah, ya gotta put in hardened exhaust seats.

Consider putting in the '96 vortec heads for trucks. I got mine for about $212 apiece. They're probably around $275 to $300 each now. Check with Sallee/Gilbert Chevrolet. I put em on a '70-'72 .

I think it was something like $25/seat when I had mine done, $100 for a 4 cylinder + all the other head work. Total bill was around $250 for the rebuilt head.

I had a 1966 Marktwain (150 Mercruiser) that dad bought new. I sold it in 2005 and it never had the head off and ran just fine on whatever gas we put in it for all those 39 years.

Don't worry about octane booster. Just make sure you have it timed correctly so it doesn't ping.

Cheers,

Rick
