What is the best fireproof-fire resistant material to use to line and soundproof an engine cover for an inboard engine? The previous cover had a yellow foam substance about 1 inch thick.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I don't know what it is but I have it on the inside of my dog house to. If it is still in good shape I would leave it. If you want more sound deadening look in to dynomat or something similar and put it under the vinyl on the out side of the dog house.

I suggest you post this question in the main "Boat Restoration" section instead of this Four Winns section. If a wider audience sees it you'll probably get a much better response.
