I have a brand new 2005 Trophy model 2002 with the extended hard top. I am trying to figure out the best place to install a pair of box speakers. They weigh 3 pounds a piece and measure 6 inches by 4 inches. I want to mount them in the two back corners of the helm directly under the hard top. The only thing I am scared of is all the bouncing and banging will rip the mounting brakets off. Is that a good place to mount them or is there a better location. Thanks

Thisoldboat,
Some of the condiserations in mounting your speakers need to take into account their resistence to vibration damage, and waterproof or water resistant. The higher you mount the speakers, the more pounding and vibrations they will receive in rough seas. If you can mount them in a secure place lower to the floor, this would help to shield them from moisture from seaspray and vibration from high position mounting. Be sure that you protect them from water when your boat is cleaned up after a day's outing.
Hope this helps; good luck, be safe!

I mounted mine under the gunwales to the cuddy bulkheads. I bolted them and used large fender washers and locknuts (All Stainless of coarse). I don't know if that's an option for you but So far so good for me... If you just screw them dollars to donuts the screws will pull out (yes I tried that at first lasted just a couple of outings...
