Best placement of transducer

Best place to mount transducer and plate? Or should I just leave the plate off and if so where to put transducer?

You put the transducer where the owners manual tells you. That manual usually addresses the following:
​1) Right side of transom
2) specific projection below hull
3) As far from prop as possible
4) Not in line with anything under the boat (strakes, lines of rivets, etc.) that can create turbulence.
5) Specific cable routing and connections

The most important thing is to place it in a clean flow of water ( nothing in front of it that will cause bubbles or turbulence).
