I'll be removing all the hardware on my boat, which is of course all pop-riveted. Before I order rivets, I've gotta wonder what's the best bet in particular for those places where putting a washer on the backside is difficult.

Some of the fitting (railing for example) are aluminum. I'm presuming I should use aluminum rivets on the aluminum fittings, and stainless steel on everything else? Or should I just go stainless for everything?

The other question is, which type. LSR (Load Spreading Rivets), or T-rivets, or 'peel' type rivets?

I've never used any of these 'fancy' pop-rivets, from the description I suspect the LSR rivets would provide the best option.

I replaced any riveted items with bolts or screws, but I did rivet my upper deck to my hull. It was stapled before. I just used aluminum rivets.

I think most of the riveted stuff (lights, railing) I'll probably contunue to use rivets due to the difficulty of getting to the back side. I will be making a serious attempt to bolt on new cleats though.

So you just used regular everyday rivets?
