2008 Regal model 2000 fastrack hull with 5.0 GXi 270 hp VP, SX drive 1.6 ratio. The stock 14.25 X 21 aluminum prop is slow out of the hole and slips more than I would like. Boat pulls nice from mid rpm all the way to 5000 with three people and fully loaded (no problem hitting 5K). I'm thinking of going to four blade SS 14.0 X 21 prop to maybe help it get out of the hole better and limiting some slip, what I don't wont is to loose top end speed. What would you recommend for my set up without loosing top end performance? Can any of the Merck. props be adopted to Volvo drive with good success? Any suggestions for which prop works good with step hull, thanks for any replies.

Re: Best prop for stepped hull?

Welcome,If you read the stickies at the top of the page and the helps at the prop store page it will help ypou understand prop selection. We'll be glad to help with any confusion. If you get us your boat, motor and performance details we can help.
Speaking genericaly
"Slip" is a measurement of prop efficiency and not generally something you feel.
"Ventilation" occurs when the prop loses grip from ingesting air.(motor revs boat slows or doesn't respond, perhaps requireing a reduction in throttle. Is your prop in excellent condition?Has it been repaired at some point?
Is it cupped? Generally hole shot and top speed don't go together.
However you seem to have some extremes in your hole shot so a prop change could improve hole shot without hurting speed.
There are aftermarket props that will work with you drive I can't speak to the Mercs.
