My 1980 Johnson 115hp is used on a 16ft tabago bowrider. We use the boat for recreation, with some water skiing and pulling towable tubes. Which prop pitch will give me the best compromise between pulling power and speed?

Also are the stainless prop's worth the extra money?

Stephen

Re: Best prop on 115hp

I've read both postings and I'm going to have to disagree with willy in this case, and here's why........You are looking for hole-shot, and yet, keep a decent top-end as well. A vented prop fills this bill perfectly by allowing higher engine R's during hole-shot for more power to plane, with a prop that is pitched for a little more speed.
I think a Stainless prop would be an excellent choice, and there are many out there.
I would also recommend a "Vented" prop which will give you exactly the compromise you are looking for, it's "better" than in-between.
