Best way to buy a more powerful transducer?

I have a nice Garmin chartplotter that I bought used with all the components other than a transducer. Capable up to 2kw with the included sounder. I have checked out the visibility or definition comparisons for 600w vs. 1kw. and it is really substantial. So much so that I want a 1kw transducer. My problem is that they cost 10 yes ten times as much. I can get a decent 600w dual beam airmar for under a hundred and they are asking 800 to a thousand for the 1kw. The definition is substantial but no where near ten times as good.

Any suggestions as to where I can purchase a garmin compatible dual beam 1kw transducer at a more reasonable price? I think a 2kw would be great too but they are even more.

I wouldn't buy a used one anyhow. Transducers have a life expectancy
