What is the best way to straighten a slightly bent skag?

Its a cobra sterndrive, I think aluminum.

I have tried heating it up with a propane torch...and banging with rubber mallet...but I'm afraid it will weaken or snap.

The proper way is place a heavy weight against the bent tip, then hammer at the curve. That compresses the material at the bend.

If you hammer the tip, it stretches instead, and is far more prone to cracking.

If you're not sure what I'm describing, I'll make a sketch.
