Well...apparantly the wire was close to going but i didnt know it.

I was moving some wires, and this one just broke off. Real close to the connector, so i'm not sure of the best way to fix it.

(besides the obvious...trace it to the other side of the connector and splice the wire together permanently, which i really dont want to do.

I do have a soldering iron, but the connection is inside the connector.

Your ideas are appreciated.

Thx.

Motor is an Evinrude, 1994, 88spl

You should be able to pull the male end out of the connector, open up the metal tangs on the connector and reattach to the wire. Then push the connector back through from the back where it broke off, you may need something like an icepick to push it back through.

That might work. I'm lazy though. I would find the mating wire on the other side and then get a single wire plug connector and hook it up in parallel.

Thx BK.

I did manage to push the pin back out, but good god thats one small item to work with.

my awl looks like an iceBreaker bar next to that.

what tool would you use to get that opened up?

about the only thing small enough to get in there is a needle, but its not strong enough to bend the tangs back.

Then try using a sharp knife to pry it open. They are a common connector, i've seen them used in the auto industry, where I used to work we had blue bins full of connectors just like the one in the pic. If you aren't in a rush go to an auto parts store (like an auto zone) and pic a few up. The are designed to push back through and stay in place.

When you are trying to push the connector into the rubber part, squirt some alchohol into the hole and it should slide on in.
