Current boat has no thru hull fittings below the water line would like to keep it that way.So i was thinking of using 3/4 pvc water pipe.I was going to drill a hole thru the transom install the pipe with a 90 deg fitting seal the hole with 4200 then run a pipe from the 90 straight down secured to the transom with straps. Will this be ok?

Well, I suppose it would work but you couldn't install it lower than the bottom of the transom - would just be this tube dragging in the water - if you see the picture. Why not just make a temporary line that you could throw over the stern while stopped and pull it in while when underway? Don't know what kind of boat you have but if an OB just stash it in the motor well. That way no holes to drill !!

The smallest bit of debris you run over will rip it right off the boat.

is this on that searay, that you were going to put multiple bilge pumps and alarms? and now you want to drill a hole in it. what the purpose of it?

Yes it's the searay.I know the tube can't be lower then the bottom of the boat. It's primary purpose is to wash the back deck down when the wife pulls in a fish then ends up getting blood on the deck.My concern is i really don't want to install and fittings below the water line less chance of leaks..lol

Install a 1" scoop type thru hull and be done with it. The chances of the thru hull leaking are less than the chances of your pipe thru the transom leaking and rottening out your transom.

I've got 7 thru hulls, 2 scoop pickups, and 2 thru hull transducers on board and I've not lost a single nights sleep over it.

All my thru hulls are stainless above the water line and bronze below the water line for what it's worth.

I agree. Haul the boat and put in a proper thru-hull WITH A SEACOCK. It's not hard to do and your washdown plumbing will be easy. If you're worried about the thru-hull leaking when not aboard, then shut it off when you're away.

A water hose that you throw over the side when needed?

I thought of the hose idea but i try to keep things neat and simple.Plus the raw water pump will be located in my bilge which would require removing a panel to gain access to it.I will install a bronze thru-hull connector with a scooper covering it. The only problem i'm running into is i can't find a bronze thru-hull with a barbed end in 3/4".I guess i'll have to go to the hardware store and get a nylon nipple for it.Also can the pick up be installed on the side of the boat? I ask cause my transom below the water line is almost 4 inches thick. Also can i use a good quality brass ball valve? The boat will be used in fresh and saltwater. I only ask about the valve cause i have a few left over from a plumbing job

The brass ball valve should be fine (more than fine actually), but I don't recommend using nylon fittings which can be prone to breaking. Definitely go through the side: you don't want to mess with the transom and risk getting moisture in there. Going through the side is easy, but make sure you seal it up well so that moisture can't get into the fiberglass and start to delaminate it.

Run a scoop type pickup with a seacock. You can pick up a bait pump that mounts directly to the seacock with makes for a very clean installation.

No brass valves or fittings. You need to use bronze.

Brass is not something you want to use where galvanic corrosion is present, like in a cooling system, submerged in salt water or below the waterline. What happens with brass is the zinc acts as a sacrificial anode (like on the outboard) and corrodes away, and you end up with porous copper. Porous copper isn't very strong or leak proof.

Even in freshwater? Yikes....
