If the transom board does not go all they way to the keel bee sure to use thru bolts with nylock nuts. 3M 5200 for a sealer.

If the boat does not already have a lot of holes drilled in it
then I would mount on one of the white mounting boards.
This way you do not have to drill many hole in the boat.
As time passes you add a speed sensor or get a different
depth finder that had different mounting holes.
With the mounting board it no big deal to drill a new whole in that white board.
For me hard to drill a whole in the boat. The way I did mine I used the board and did not drill any new wholes.
I put some silcone seal on the back of the board. Took out the screws that held the
speed pitot and the drain plug and put in some longer ones in the same holes.
Put a washer and sealer on the inside and board is solid for mounting anything.

The sell the boards here at IBoat also but could not find the link.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0000847010102a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnString=_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&hasJS=true&_D%3AhasJS=+&%2Fcabelas%2Fcomm erce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Ftemplates%2Fgiftcertificate%2Fgiftcertificate.jsp%3Fid%3D0005586990011a%26podId%3D0005586%26catalogCode%3DIB% 26navAction%3Djump%26indexId%3D&_D%3A%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=+&QueryText=Mounting+Plate&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsea rch-box.jsp.form9&Go.x=10&Go.y=12&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=Mounting+Plate&noImage=0&returnPage=search-results1.jsp

We did a similar install on a SeaArk. I made a plate out of some plastic at work we used in a display. Might even be the same stuff Boatist is talking about... but I just adhered it to the transom, didn't use existing holes. I mounted the transducer with stainless screws making sure they weren't so long as to go through the plastic plate. The plate was 4x4x1/2". Been there for four years with no problems.

spots
